Handwritten transcript (1900-1904) of genealogical and biographical information compiled for Dr. Peter Gourdin DeSaussure by M.G.D [Martha Sarah Gourdin DeSaussure] from a copy of a manuscript written by John Drayton (1817) and from related documents abstracted by Wilmot G. DeSaussure. Contains genealogical and biographical information about the Drayton and related Motte, Gadsden, Fenwick, and other families. Includes annotations, bibliographical references, a copy of a letter (1884 Nov. 11) from Mrs. M.B. Taylor at Gainesville [Fla.?] to Miss Emma Holmes about Fenwick family data for DeSaussure, and a description of Drayton House in England excerpted from a letter (1763 July 23) from Horace Walpole, Earl of Oxford at Stamford to George Montagu. Inside the front cover is a bookplate (before 1791) of William Drayton [who studied law in London, England] of Middle Temple. Drawings (1815?) are of the coat of arms of Judge [William] Drayton and of [Michael] Drayton, who is buried in Poet's Corner, Westminster Abbey.
